Marlborough PD completes firearms training utilizing MSO's Mobile Training Center

Marlborough police officers recently completed interactive, scenario-based firearms training utilizing the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Mobile Training Center (MTC), Police Chief Mark Leonard and Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian announced today.

“The Mobile Training Center is an extremely valuable resource we are pleased to be able to make available to our local law enforcement colleagues.  The scenarios officers are put through accurately portray events ranging from traffic stops to active shooter situations, and the interactive capabilities of the technology allow officers the opportunity to not only complete their firearms training, but just as importantly to work on their communications skills,” said Sheriff Koutoujian.  “Additionally, the MTC saves cities and towns money by allowing officers to train in their own communities and during their shifts, reducing overtime and eliminating the need to rent time at a range.”

“The Mobile Training Center provides an opportunity for our officers to train using real-life scenarios that enhance their judgment, verbal de-escalation, and firearms skills,” added Chief Leonard.  “We are grateful to Sheriff Koutoujian and his staff for once again making the MTC available to our department.”

The MTC was purchased by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office with federal grant funds in 2010 and the Marlborough Police Department first utilized it in 2011.  This year the MTC was on site at MPD for four days during which 46 officers underwent training.
