Marlborough Man Returned to Massachusetts to Face Sexual Assault Charges

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Middlesex Sheriff Peter J Koutoujian have confirmed that Daniel Escalante, 43, of Marlborough, was returned to Massachusetts on Wednesday, June 6 by the Middlesex Sheriff Office’s Warrant Apprehension Unit and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section after a default warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court in October of 2017.

Escalante appeared in Middlesex Superior Court Thursday, June 7 where Clerk Magistrate Matthew Day ordered the defendant held without bail until Monday, June 11, for a bail hearing.

Escalante had previously been scheduled to stand trial in October of 2017. As a result of his failure to appear, in March of 2018 Massachusetts State Police added Escalante to their Most Wanted List. The defendant was located in Reno, Nevada on May 14, 2018, and held on a fugitive from justice charge.

Daniel Escalante was indicted in June of 2015 on five counts of rape of a child by force, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 and two counts of assault with intent to rape. Escalante is alleged to have sexually assaulted three females who were known to him in Marlborough and Hudson on multiple occasions between 2001 and 2012.
