Dracut fugitive returned to Massachusetts to face charges

A Dracut man alleged to have cut off his GPS monitoring device while awaiting trial in Lowell Superior Court has been returned to Massachusetts after having been arrested in Michigan, Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Dracut Acting Police Chief Stephen Chaput announced today.

Michael Floyd, 32, of Dracut, is alleged to have fled Massachusetts in September after having been placedMSO Warrant Apprehension Unit logo on a court-ordered GPS device.  He was arrested by Michigan State Police after he was tracked to the city of Buchanan by members of the Dracut Police Department and Middlesex Sheriff’s Office earlier this month.

Deputies assigned to the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Warrant Apprehension Unit (W.A.U.) returned Floyd to Massachusetts on Wednesday night.  It is the second time W.A.U. deputies have returned Floyd from Michigan.  He was arrested there earlier this year and charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a minor female victim who is known to him.

Floyd appeared in Lowell Superior Thursday in connection with his pending case.  He was ordered held without bail.  The next date in this case is December 1, 2020.

All further inquiries should be directed to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
