Information Regarding the 2019 Correction Officer Entrance Exam

All applicants who have registered for the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) correction officer entrance exam must report to the following location/time based on the applicant’s last name.  The testing location and time cannot be changed. 


Those interested applicants that did not register online by the March 18, 2019 1:00 PM deadline noted in the job posting will not be allowed to take this exam. 


The examination will last approximately two (2) hours, please plan accordingly.

No participants will be admitted after the exam start time noted above.  No food or beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  All electronic devices must be turned off before entering the testing area.


REGISTRATION:  In order to sit for the March 30, 2019 exam, you must bring a copy of the exam registration confirmation page that was emailed to you and you must present a current and valid photo identification with signature (e.g. driver’s license, passport, ID from an institution of higher education).

You must print out and complete the Confidentiality and Nondisclosure form found below and submit this completed form at the exam registration table.  You must also bring two #2 pencils to participate in the correction officer exam.


EXAMINATION DETAILS:  See CO exam details document attached below and provided by the testing vendor for information regarding the exam and practice test.     


EXAM SCORE INFORMATION:  Applicants will be notified via mail (address provided by the applicant in the CO Exam Registration Form) of their exam scores by Friday, April 12, 2019.  Please do not contact the MSO for your exam scores unless you did not receive them in the mail by the date noted above.  If you passed the correction officer entrance exam, you will also be notified via mail of your scheduled time to take the PFST.


PHYSICAL FITNESS STANDARDS TEST (PFST):  The PFST will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Tufts University Cousens Gymnasium 125 College Avenue, Medford, MA 02155 for those applicants who pass the correction officer entrance exam.  You will be notified via letter of your exam scores and the time you are scheduled to take the PFST.  Below you will find an explanation of the PFST and the minimum passing scores.  In order to participate in this test, you must have a physician complete the physician clearance form found also found below and bring your completed/signed physician’s clearance form with you to the PFST test site on April 24, 2019. 

Failure to bring the required physician clearance form to the PFST test on April 24, 2019 will disqualify you from participating in the PFST and moving forward in the hiring process.


CHANGE OF ADDRESS:  Applicants are responsible for notifying the MSO in writing of any change of address after the examination.  Applicants must submit changes of address by sending a written request, including former address and new address to the address or fax number noted below.
