Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian and Watertown Police Chief Justin M. Hanrahan have announced the recent completion of interactive, scenario-based training for members of the city’s police department.
The training was completed between April 28-May 2 in Watertown utilizing the MSO’s Mobile Training Center (MTC). In total, 48 Watertown officers participated.
During the training, officers were put through a series of video-based scenarios that replicated situations they may encounter on any shift. This included traffic stops, situations involving individuals trespassing, and mental health calls. In addition, officers participated in an active-shooter scenario.
“The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office is committed to working with our local law enforcement partners to enhance public safety across our 54 cities and towns,” said Sheriff Koutoujian. “Preparation, training, and collaboration are the key components to keeping our communities safe and the MTC plays an important role in that.”
"We are grateful to Sheriff Koutoujian and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office for bringing their interactive scenario-based training simulator to Watertown,” said Chief Hanrahan. “This cutting-edge training gave our officers a valuable opportunity to enhance their decision-making and de-escalation skills in real-time scenarios. We appreciate Sheriff Koutoujian’s commitment to regional collaboration and officer preparedness."
