Week 5:

In week 5 Dave Ellison gave the recruits a Monday morning wakeup call when returning to the training academy to perform drill & ceremony.

The recruits focused on learning about the role of a correctional officer taught by Deputy Richard Maloney and Sergeant Romano.  Joseph Blair returned to teach constitutional law, while Brian Greeley touched them up on their communication skills.  Different individuals, such as Deputy Sean McAdam and Captain Linda Sweeney, stopped in to inform the recruits on Human Services.

Officer Crowley taught first responder, where they all learned about CPR and choking instances with an adult, child and infant.  They also learned how to use an AED machine.

Captain Jean Martin also taught the recruits about urine surveillance.  She specifically focused on procedures for testing, the importance of doing paperwork accurately and sanitation instances that people commonly run into.

The recruits all got a chance to take a break from the books and further extend their knowledge on defensive tactics.  Captain Gene Massa and Sergeant Brian Crane taught them all important and useful means of defense.

Recruit Patrick Silva was elected class president of the 34th Basic Training Academy.  Recruit Melissa Elie was also given a position of secretary and treasurer.
