MSO IN TRAINING...
The 34th Basic Training Academy
Week 15:
In Week 15, the recruits had the opportunity to attend computer training courses at Middlesex Community College in Bedford. Each morning from Monday to Thursday, they learned different computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Back at the Training Academy in the afternoon, the recruits got an overview of the Cambridge Jail as well as another class on gangs taught by Captain Richard Vivier and Officer Eric Costello. This week, they primarily focused on how prison and street gangs communicate and different signs of rivalry. Many recruits voiced their interest in this class thus far.
Sergeant Brian Crane and Officer George Balian conducted class on the move team. They discussed how to get into a cell, grips, ERB belts and restraint chairs, as well as three person teams.
On Thursday afternoon, Sergeant Crane taught defensive tactics as well as various team building exercises. The recruits each had to work together to reach their goal.
On Friday, both squads had more law review and finally took their exam in the afternoon.
Physical training’s location changed to the town of Billerica for the week. Their run started off in the late afternoon at the Training Academy followed by various locations around town.
