WINCHESTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S MENTORING PROGRAM TAKES A STAB AT S.W.A.T

On March 10, 2010, two forth grade students, Maxwell McDonnell and Christopher Ferrelli, from the Muraco Elementary School in Winchester, MA spent their Mentor Program day at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office in Billerica to learn about S.W.A.T operations. This Mentor Program has been in place for many years in which fourth and fifth graders are paired with a mentor to learn more about a vocation they’re interested in.
Some of the topics discussed with the two boys were the qualifications and responsibilities to be on a S.W.A.T team and the situations S.W.A.T teams are called for. Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Deputy Scot Chaput reviewed the S.W.A.T equipment and answered any questions the students had.
After their program is completed, there is a night of
sharing at the school where the students will show what they have learned and
the responsibilities of being a S.W.A.T team member.
