Middlesex Sheriff James V. DiPaola was honored to be recognized by State Representative Thomas A. Golden at a ceremony held Friday, March 7 at the Robinson School in Lowell.

An inmate work crew from the Community Work Program built benches for the gymnasium at the school, giving resting players a place to sit during time off the court. Representative Golden was vital in initiating the project and acquiring the materials to produce the benches.  Robinson School principal Dr. Robert J. Murphy welcomed the Sheriff and Representative.  They were joined by members of the principal’s student Cabinet Board.

The Community Work Program provides free labor via non-violent inmates to public buildings and organizations. The program teaches inmates the value of a hard days work while saving taxpayer money.
