The men and women of the Middlesex Sheriff's Office belong to one of the oldest Law Enforcement agencies in the United States. As our responsibilities and duties have evolved over time, so too has our training. We now provide our employees with the most comprehensive and regimented training component in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Increased from a mere two weeks to twenty-five, the Basic Training Academy for all new Correctional Officers reflects our commitment to providing a professional, safe and secure environment for our employees and the inmate population.

The Training Academy, located at 793 Boston Road in Billerica, is utilized on a daily basis to provide ongoing training exercises, lectures and classes to ensure our employees are up to date with all certifications and understand the latest public safety methods and tools. Mandatory annual management and 40-hour training for all employees guarantees our workforce remains elite and prepared.
