                                  32nd Basic Training Academy

WEEK TWO
< back

Week two at the Academy introduced the basic but vital skills necessary for work at a Middlesex Sheriff's Office facility.

Academic training consisted of a sexual harassment seminar and introductory sessions in constitutional law, which will continue throughout the Academy.

In addition to daily physical training cadets began learning drill and ceremony from Deputy Dave Ellison. Cadets were taught the basic techniques for marching, cadence and military positions and are expected, over the course of the Academy's 19 weeks, to become a quick and precise unit.

Cadets toured the Billerica House of Corrections and got a firsthand look at the correctional officer working environment.

They then were given an overview lesson in report writing and inmate count procedure. The week rounded off with a lesson on the rich tradition and history of the Middlesex Sheriff's Office.
