                                  32nd Basic Training Academy

WEEK FIVE
< back

Communication skills are a vital part of the correctional officer’s working world, which is why in Week Five recruits are given special training seminars to teach them the best way to articulate and approach tense situations. Included in this training is a crash survival course in the Spanish language. In addition to giving recruits an important tool while walking the tiers, learning a second language also adds culture and depth to the Academy.

Constitutional Law classes continued, as they will for the remainder of the Academy, along with introductory seminars on CPR training.

Week Five also brought quarter reviews of physical fitness. The recruits, “improved by leaps and bounds,” according to Sgt. Brian Crane.
